You Season 5: The Final Chapter Begins
Netflix’s You returns for its fifth and final season, bringing Joe Goldberg’s story full circle. All 10 episodes premiered on April 24, 2025, marking the end of the series that has captivated audiences with its dark exploration of obsession and identity.
A Return to New York
The final season sees Joe (Penn Badgley) and his wife Kate (Charlotte Ritchie) back in New York City, three years after leaving London. Kate has become the CEO of the Lockwood Corporation, and Joe is now known as the charming “Prince Charming” of the city. Despite their efforts to lead a normal life, Joe’s past and his darker instincts resurface, challenging the facade they’ve built.

New Faces and Old Ghosts
The season introduces new characters, including Bronte (Madeline Brewer), a free-spirited playwright who stirs something in Joe, and Kate’s siblings: Teddy (Griffin Matthews), a snarky yet loyal brother-in-law; Raegan (Anna Camp), the ambitious CFO of Lockwood Corp; and Maddie (also Anna Camp), the unserious twin sister. As Joe reconnects with these new and old acquaintances, his past mistakes come back to haunt him, forcing him to confront the consequences of his actions.
A Fitting Conclusion
Executive producers Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo, who took over as co-showrunners for the final season, aimed to bring Joe’s journey to a satisfying conclusion. They felt that returning to New York allowed the story to come full circle, with Joe now a different person than when he first arrived in the city. The final season explores themes of redemption, identity, and the inescapability of one’s past.
